SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Some South Dakota cities are moving to close restaurants and retail stores as Gov. Kristi Noem declines to bring severe restrictions on business.
Health experts have called on the governor to close businesses to curb the spread of COVID-19. Cities and counties across the state have created a patchwork of coronavirus-related action across this week.
But as urban centers enforce the emergency laws, some local leaders say they’ve done all they can and it’s now want Noem to take action.
The state’s largest association of doctors says the governor’s lack of action could put rural health care systems at risk.
