South Dakota cowboy wins season opener at Rodeo RC

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For the second consecutive year, a South Dakota cowboy has won Rodeo Rapid City’s PRCA Xtreme Bulls competition.

Chance Schott, McLaughlin, S.D. won on New Frontier Rodeo’s No. F24 with 86.5 points during the Friday, Jan. 26 performance at The Monument.

There was a total of South Dakota cowboys returning to their home state to open Rodeo Rapid City during the PRCA Xtreme Tour. The tour’s official season starts at the event, named most recently as the best large indoor rodeo by the PRCA.

Rodeo Rapid City kicked into full gear Friday night with the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour. South Dakota’s Chance Schott lead the way with an 86.5 point ride. Cole Hould came in second with 85.5 points, while Maverick Potter and TJ Schmidt tied for third with 83.5.

Bull riding: 1. Chance Schott, 86.5 points on New Frontier Rodeo’s No. F24, $4,089; 2. Cole Hould, 85.5, $3,135; 3. (tie) Maverick Potter and TJ Schmidt, 83.5, $1,908 each; 5. Ty Bertrand, 81.5, $954; 6. Kase Hitt, 81, $682; 7. Connor Murnion, 78.5, $545; 8. (tie) Coy Pollmeier and Dalton Wright, 78, $204 each.

Total payoff: $13,630. Stock contractors: Sutton Rodeos, Burch Rodeo and 4L & Diamond S Rodeo.
