PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 402 new cases of COVID-19 in their Wednesday report with 36 of those listed as probable.
Active cases declined by 154 to 6,735 and the number of people hospitalized remained mostly stable at 221.
There were six new deaths reported Wednesday, sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,167.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County had 78 confirmed new cases and one new probable case.
Meade County had the second most new cases with 31 confirmed and one probable.
Lawrence County added 15 new cases and Butte County reported nine.
Elsewhere, Custer County listed 7 new cases, Fall River County had 4 and Harding County reported 3 confirmed and one probable case.
