South Dakota Health officials list 575 new COVID-19 cases, eight new deaths in Monday report

PIERRE, S.D. – Health officials reported 575 new cases of COVID-19 in their Monday report with 98 of those listed under the probable category.

Active cases totaled 7,253 today and the number of people hospitalized was 234.

Eight new deaths were reported in today’s update, sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,328. One of the new deaths was reported out of Custer County.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 64 new cases with 6 of those listed as probable.

Lawrence County, Butte County and Fall River County each listed 10 new cases today and Meade County added 14.

Custer County was the only other Black Hills area county reporting new cases today with 4.
