PIERRE, S.D. – A South Dakota law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty Friday afternoon following a vehicle pursuit in Moody County, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley confirmed.
Jackley reported that there is no immediate threat to the public and that the Attorney General’s Office is working in cooperation with local prosecutors throughout the investigation.
“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family and all those serving in the officer’s department,” said Attorney General Jackley. “The State Division of Criminal Investigation, Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement agencies are cooperating to provide a complete and thorough investigation. One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.”
Officials said that the names of the deceased officer and their law enforcement agency have not yet been released.
