South Dakota records 16 new deaths in Sunday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 16 new COVID-19 related deaths Sunday.

The new deaths raise the state’s death toll to 1,259.

New cases Sunday totaled 632 and active cases dropped to 12,747.

The number of people hospitalized dropped 16 to 436.

New cases across West River totaled 148.

Pennington County saw their cumulative total rise above 10,000 as 63 new cases were reported. Pennington County’s total is 10,006 with 1,576 remaining active.

In Meade County, 17 new cases were reported sending the total to 1,028 with 336 active.

Lawrence County has 12 new cases to send their total to 2,328 with 334 remaining active.

Other new cases across West River included 13 in Oglala Lakota, 8 in Dewey, 5 in Todd, 4 each in Ziebach and Tripp, 3 each in Fall River, Haakon, Lyman and Gregory, 2 each in Butte, Custer, Corson and Jackson and one each in Bennett and Mellette.
