South Dakota reports 31 COVID-19 deaths in Friday report

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota added another 31 COVID-19 deaths Friday as the state’s death toll rose to 1,064. The new deaths were 16 women and 15 men in the following age ranges: 30-39, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus.

Active cases in the state increased by 451 to 15,925. The number of hospitalizations decreased by 22 to 516.

New cases statewide total 1,050 with 301 West River.

Pennington County added 117 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 9,153 ad 1,839 that are active.

Meade County had 21 new cases and Lawrence County reported 25. Meade’s total is now 1,853 with 379 active and Lawrence County’s cumulative total rose to 2,152 with 404 active.

Other new cases West River included 60 in Dewey, 10 in Todd, 8 each in Oglala Lakota and Ziebach, 7 each in Custer and Corson, 6 in Butte, 5 each in Fall River and Bennett, 4 each in Perkins, Gregory and Tripp, 3 each in Lyman and Haakon, 2 in Mellette and one each in Harding and Stanley.

On Friday, 1,829 new persons tested were reported. The new persons tested positivity rate for Friday is 57%.
