South Dakota reports 425 new cases and fifteen new deaths in Friday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 425 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, with 127 of them listed as probable. 

Fifteen new COVID-19 related deaths were also reported, sending the state’s death toll to 1,629 since the pandemic began.

Active cases were up slightly to 4,732 and the number of people hospitalized because of the virus was down by twenty today to 227.

Across West River counties, there were 103 cases, of which, 23 were listed as probable.

In Pennington County, there were 51 new cases with 16 probable. Lawrence county added 17 new cases and Meade County had 5.

Butte County reported 3 new cases and Custer counted 7.

Elsewhere across the Black Hills area, Oglala Lakota added 5 new cases with one listed as probable.
