PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota reported 54 COVID-19 related deaths in their Saturday report – setting a new daily high since the pandemic started.
The new deaths send the death toll over 900 to 942.
New cases today totaled 819 with 98 of them considered probable. Active cases were up today to 17,106 but the number of people hospitalized due to the virus tumbled to 539.
There were 179 new cases across West River with Pennington County reporting 90 of those. Pennington County’s total rises to 8,465 with 1,841 active.
Meade County added 17 new cases today, sending the cumulative total to 1,715. There are 348 active cases in Meade.
Lawrence County added 12 new cases today, sending the total to 1,978 with 392 active.
Other new cases across West River included 17 in Todd, 9 in Custer, 7 in Lyman, 6 in Corson, 4 in Tripp, 2 each in Butte, Fall River, Perkins, Jones, Gregory, Jackson and Mellette and one each in Harding, Stanley and Bennett.
