PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 944 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday with 151 of those listed as probable.
Active cases saw a large increase today to 7,871 – a 600 increase from Tuesday.
Hospitalizations increased by 9 to 237 and there were six new deaths reported. One of the new deaths was out of Lawrence County, where 75 people have now died since the pandemic began. The state’s death toll reaches 2,474.
Across the Black Hills area, 110 new cases were reported out of Pennington County, where 10 of those were listed as probable.
Meade County reported 20 confirmed cases and 2 probable while Lawrence County had 11 confirmed cases and one probable.
Elsewhere, Custer County listed 11 new cases, Fall River County had 9, Oglala Lakota County tallied 6 and there were 3 new cases out of Butte County.
