SPEARFISH, S.D. – Spearfish fire crews responded to a structure fire in Ken’s Trailer Court Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was called in around 4:30 from 360 Hillsview Rd.
Spearfish Fire Chief Scott Deaver reported the fire was isolated to one area of the mobile home. Upon arrival, crews found smoke, but no flames visible from the exterior.
He says firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the home at the time was not habitable, displacing the residents.
Also on Wednesday, fire crews responded to a vehicle fire at Auto Choice on Heritage Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire burning under the hood and into the cab of a Ford F-150 pickup. The fire then spread to a neighboring van.
The fire destroyed both vehicles.
Auto Choice owner Ron Sneesby says they were in the process of moving the pickup into the shop for repair work when a mechanical failure on the fuel system sparked the fire. He says the van was salvage.
No injuries were reported.
