SPEARFISH, S.D. – In Independence League action, Patrick Rakes collected three hits in six at bats, as Spearfish Sasquatch defeated Bison Baseball 16-1 on Tuesday.
Rakes singled in the fourth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning.
The Sasquatch scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rakes singled, scoring two runs, Benjamin Green doubled, scoring two runs, Chase Scott doubled, scoring one run, Matthew Gonzalez drew a walk, scoring one run, and Daniel Cook drew a walk, scoring one run.
Jordan Boman earned the win for Spearfish. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking two. Tim Dixon took the loss for Bison Baseball.
The two teams meet again tonight.
