SPEARFISH, S.D. — Chalk up another L for the Sasquatch after the Badlands Bigsticks move Spearfish to 16-7 on the season.
The Sasquatch started strong with a two-out single from Joe Cacciatore in the second inning, putting the Sasquatch in the lead early 1-0. Badlands would respond quickly, putting up five runs in the third inning. Three more runs would come in the fourth inning extending their lead, 8-1. The Bigsticks would add eight more runs in five innings, while Spearfish only added two in the fifth inning.
Through the season, batting has been strong for the Sasquatch. Ben Parker leads the team in RBIs, bringing in 26 in the season so far. Charles McAdoo and Matt Crossley are not far behind him, McAdoo, with 21, and Crossley with 19. Seth Surrett has the team’s highest batting average, hitting .407 on the season.
Pitching has also been strong as Zach Kreithe is leading the charge with 24 strikeouts. While Nico Saldias is the team’s winningest pitcher, having four wins under his belt.
Spearfish sits in second place of the Clark Division 3.5 games behind the Western Nebraska Pioneers. The Pioneers are 20-7 on the season and are on a 10 game winning streak. The two teams will face off for a three-game stand at the Black Hills Energy Stadium June 25th-27th.
