Spearfish wins team title at BHC Championship

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Spearfish Spartan boys golf team captured the Black Hills Conference Championship on Tuesday at the Hart Ranch.

The Spartans have now won the BHC title for eight years in a row.

Spearfish finished with the top low score of 166. St Thomas More was second, two strokes back, and Sturgis came in third place with a 183. Belle Fourche and Hill City rounded out to the top five.

Winning the individual title was Vincent Van Liere of St Thomas More.

Van Liere, along with Parker Reede from Spearfish, both carded a 38 on the back nine. But Van Liere won a scorecard playoff over Reede to claim the conference title.

Charlie Rasmussen of Spearfish and Hayden Heig of St Thomas More tied for third. Landon Bey of Sturgis placed sixth with a 44 and his teammate Jaxson Dodson was seventh.
