DEADWOOD, S.D. – According to statistics released today by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, the September 2021 gaming handle showed a 14.35 percent increase over September 2020, fueled by $443,365 in sports wagering handle, with slot machine handle increasing by 14.36 percent when compared to September 2020. The table game handle increased by 7.43 percent when compared to 2020 September’s table game handle. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,518,627 in “free-play” for the month of September, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $13,656,645 for September of 2021. Deadwood’s September YTD numbers put 2021 revenues up 40.02% over 2020 and up 30.64% over 2019.
“Deadwood’s sports wagering debut of just four properties, and 22 days in September is a great start,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “With more properties coming on board before the end of the year, and our sports wagering catalogue proposed expansion in December, we see exciting opportunities in 2022 for sports wagering.”
Deadwood’s sports bettors wagered 92% of their total wagers on the NFL and NCAA football.
