SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The consolation championships are complete at the State A and B Wrestling tournament, with just the championship matches to be held Friday evening.
In Class A:
At 113 pounds, Riley Schmidt of Rapid City Central won third place with a win over Jackson Tschetter of Tea Area. Tegan Zebroski of Sturgis came in fifth with a pin on Hayden McGuire of Brandon Valley.
At 126 pounds, Kaden Olson won the consolation championship with a hard fought 4-2 decision over Tripp Schrempp of Cheyenne Eagle Butte.
At 132 pounds, Kelton Olson won the consolation championship with a win over Caleb Richter of Rapid City Stevens. Olson won by a 2-1 decision.
At 138 pounds, Thomas McCoy of Belle Fourche brought home third place with a win over Carson Hansmann of Watertown.
At 195 pounds, Aiden Werlinger of Sturgis came in fourth, losing the consolation championship to Jaxon Morrison of Rapid City Central.
At 200 pounds, Zac Juelfs of Sturgis makes the medal stand with a 7th place win over Samson Flakus of Aberdeen Central.
Two Sturgis Scoopers placed eighth. They were Braden Temple at 152 and Perry Ketelsen at 145.
In Class B:
At 106 pounds, Tray Weiss of Custer finishes fourth, dropping his consolation championship match to Brady Risetter of Redfield. Tukker Poe of Philip finishes in 7th.
At 113 pounds, Riley Scott of Custer finishes fourth, losing the third place match to Holden Hankins of Sisseton.
At 120 pounds, Kipp Cordes of Philip finishes in fourth, losing the consolation championship match to Kasen Konstanz of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes. Cade Martian of Harding County places seventh.
At 126 pounds, Jace Blasius of Philip wins the consolation championship on a 3-2 decision over Landon Woodward of Custer.
At 138 pounds, Ryker Peterson places fourth, losing the consolation championship to Andy Meyer of Canton. Braden Weiss of Custer places 7th.
At 145 pounds, Thane Simons finishes on the podium in 7th with a win over Christian Ehremann of McCook Central-Montrose.
At 160 pounds, Jonathan Lewis of Custer places fourth, dropping the third place match to Riley Orel of Winner Area.
At 170 pounds, Parker Noem completes a comeback from an opening round loss, and win the consolation championship with a 4-2 win over Lucas Kannegieter of Clark/Willow Lake.
At 195 pounds, Caleb Rickenbach of Hot Springs wins the consolation championship with a win over Taron Serr.
And, at 220 pounds, Grey Gilbert of Harding County wins 7th place over Tanner Davis of Hill City.
At the State Wrestling Girls consolation championships: Brooklyn Baird of Sturgis wins third place on a DQ. She was to wrestle Shea Irion of Spearfish. Brooklyn Brant of Sturgis is just out of the top 7 – finishing in eighth with a loss to Cassandra Witte of RC Central. Madison Snyder of Sturgis placed fifth with a pin of Hattie Baldwin of Pierre. Hope Orr of Viborg/Hurley defeats Destiny Triplett of Douglas for third place.
