SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The State A Wrestling Individual Tournament crowned champions Friday night.
Sturgis crowned one champion in Reese Jacobs, who won the 170 pound title. Jacobs got a pin of Tae Ellenbecker of Sioux Falls Lincoln.
Other area wrestlers winning championships include Logan Graf of Rapid City Stevens. He won the 126 pound title with a win over Jordon Oehme of Brandon Valley. Corter Doney of Stevens won the 152 pound championship with a 7-5 decision win over Deegan Houska of Pierre.
In a classic battle at 160 pounds, Riley Benson of Stevens defeated Landin Winter of Central by 3-1 decision.
Area wrestlers losing their championship match and bringing home second are Corbin Zent of Stevens at 106 pounds, Jack Schoenhard of Stevens at 120, and Oakley Blakeman of Spearfish at 145. Zent fell to Trevon Oehme of Brandon Valley, Schoenhard lost to Maddix Slykhuis of Tea Area and Blakeman was pinned by Jagger Tyler of Mitchell.
In the team standings, Brandon Valley won the team title with 248 points. Rapid City Stevens was second with 162 points and Watertown finished third with 155.5 points.
Harrisburg was fourth with 142 points, Pierre was fifth with 138.5 and Sturgis was sixth with 117 points. Rapid City Central was tenth in team and Spearfish was 14th.
