State adds 179 new cases, three new deaths in Sunday COVID-19 Report

PIERRE, S.D. – The state health department reported 179 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, with 47 of them listed as probable.

There were 3 new deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 1,778. Two of the 3 new deaths were out of Pennington County where the death toll is now 171.

Active cases of the virus dropped 61 Sunday to 2,833 and the number of people hospitalized because of the virus tumbled 20 today to 125.

Pennington County added 17 new COVID-19 cases with one listed as probable.

Lawrence County had 2 new, confirmed cases and Meade County had 2 confirmed cases and one probable case.

Custer added one new, confirmed case.
