SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The semifinals are set at the State B Wrestling Tournament in Sioux Falls as the second round of action wrapped up Friday evening.
Six area athletes have punched their tickets to the semifinals.
At 106 pounds, Trey Weiss of Custer won his quarterfinal match over Cole Hendrixson to advance. Other Wildcats to advance to the semi’s are Landon Woodward at 126 and Jonathan Lewis at 160.
Kipp Cordes of Philip is one of two Scotties headed to the semifinals. Cordes, at 120 pounds, defeated Karson Keiser of Winner Area to advance. His teammate, Burk Blasius, got a 16-3 decision win over Mason Hendrickson to advance at 170.
Also advancing to the semifinals is Caleb Rickenbach of Hot Springs at 195. He defeated Kade Grocott of McCook Central/Montrose.
Wrestlers dropping their quarterfinal match and headed to the wrestleback are Tukker Boe of Philip at 106, Riley Scott of Custer at 113, Jace Blasius of Philip at 126, Gage Ravallette of Philip at 132, Ryker Peterson of Philip at 138, Chase VanDerBoom of Newell at 145, Thane Simons of Philip at 145, Xavier Wright of Hot Springs at 152, Tanner Davis of Hill City at 220 and Grey Gilbert of Harding County at 220.
In the team standings as of Thursday night, Canton is first with 80.5 points. Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes and Winner Area are tied at second with 66. Philip is fourth with 52 and Custer is fifth with 50.
