State Boys’ Basketball – Day one Scores – Dell Rapids shocks Vermillion

UNDATED – Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, and Rapid City are playing host to the 2021 boys state basketball championships. Thursday consisted of the quarterfinal round at all three locations.

Perhaps the most exciting game of the day was the upset of top-seed Vermillion to No. 8 seed Dell Rapids at the State A tournament.

Dell Rapids junior Landon Ruesink connected on a game winning three-pointer as time expired to lift the Quarriers past previously undefeated Vermillion, 53-52.

Ruesink was one of four Dell Rapids players to finish with more than seven points. Connor Rentz and Brayden Pankonen led the Quarriers with 15 each.

Also at the State A Tournament, St Thomas More lost their opening round matchup with Sioux Falls Christian by a score of 58-47.
