State Cheer and Dance Competition wraps up Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Day two of the 2023 SDHSAA state cheer and dance competition took place on Saturday October 21st from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Jefferson captured the Grand Champion Cheer title, scoring 288 points. O’Gorman was second with 282 points and Harrisburg was third with 279.5.

Rapid City Stevens placed fifth  in the competition and the Sturgis Scoopers were 15th with 199.5 points.

Brandon Valley won Grand Champion Dance with 296 points. Sioux Falls Washington was second and Yankton placed third. Top placing West River team as Rapid City Central in 11th with 253.5.

On Friday, Dakota Valley and Sioux Valley continued their dynamic run in Class A cheer and dance as Dakota Valley won their 14th straight state championship in dance, while Sioux Valley claimed their 17th consecutive state title in cheer.

Belle Fourche placed seventh in Grand Champion Dance. St Thomas More was the top placing area team in Cheer, capturing 14th.
