PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 72 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday. Of those, 17 were found in western South Dakota.
Pennington County had the most with 11 new cases. The county now has 457 cumulative and 156 active.
Other cases across western South Dakota included three in Tripp County and one each in Custer County, Lyman County and Oglala Lakota County.
The number of active cases statewide rose to 827 from Saturday’s 809. There are 89 people hospitalized as of Sunday, down 2 from Saturday.
The state’s death toll remained at 81.
