State Health Department lists 60 new positive tests for COVID-19; four more deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The state Department of Health reported 60 new positive tests for COVID-19 in its Thursday report.

In the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 4 new cases giving them a cumulative total of 40. There are currently 25 active cases. Other cases included 33 in Minnehaha, 11 in Brown, 3 in Roberts, 2 in Lincoln and one each in Charles Mix, Clark, Davison, Lyman, Union and Yankton.

The health department also reported four more deaths – all from Minnehaha County. The state’s death toll is now 43 with 38 in Minnehaha County.

The number of active cases in the state decreased to 1,312 – down 14 from Wednesday’s numbers.

A total of 2,437 people have now recovered from the virus, up 70 from the day before.

Health officials say 85 people are currently hospitalized due to the virus.
