State Health Department reports 14 COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – It was a deadly COVID-19 update Wednesday as the  Department of Health reported 14 new deaths.

The new deaths send the state’s death toll to 2,623. Of the new deaths, two were out of Pennington County, two were out of Fall River County and there was one death each out of Lawrence County and Oglala Lakota County.

New cases today totaled 1,508 with 524 of those listed as probable.

Active cases shot back up to 35,534 while the number of people hospitalized dropped by 27 to 396.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County listed 262 new cases with 42 of those listed as probable.

Meade County reported 64 total new cases with 6 of those probable and Lawrence County had 56 new cases with 13 probable.

Elsewhere, Butte County had 21 new cases with 3 probable, Fall River County totaled 32 with 16 probable, Custer County added 26 new cases, Oglala Lakota County had 14 with 7 probable and Harding County confirmed three additional new cases.
