State Health Department reports 255 new COVID-19 cases; three new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. — On Friday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 255 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state. Two of the 255 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Three new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,952. Two of the three deaths today were reported out of Lawrence County. Deaths were in the 70-79 and 80-plus age range.

In South Dakota, 2,201 cases are considered active, that number is down from 2,328 on Thursday.
106 people are currently hospitalized.

There were 21 confirmed cases were reported West River: Six in Pennington County, three in Lawrence County, two each in Meade, Oglala Lakota and Tripp Counties and one each in Bennett, Butte, Custer, Gregory, Jackson and Mellette Counties.
