State health officials report 49 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – Health officials reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday with 8 of those listed as probable.

Active cases decreased by 27 today to 421 but the number of people hospitalized saw an increase from 41 Tuesday to 48 Wednesday.

No new deaths were reported. The state’s death toll remains at 2,004.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported the most new cases with 11. Butte County added 6 new cases and Lawrence County had 3.

Both Meade and Custer County reported one new case each and Fall River County added two.
