PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 83 new cases of COVID-19 in their Tuesday report.
Pennington, Meade and Lawrence counties all reported a handful of new cases.
In Meade County, there were 6 new cases reported Tuesday. The cumulative total rises to 112, however, recoveries in Meade outpaced the new cases today as the active caseload is only up two to 24.
In Pennington County, there were 7 new cases reported and like Meade County, the number of recoveries outpaced new cases as the active caseload fell 2 today to 112.
Lawrence County reported 3 new COVID-19 cases and their active cases are also down 2 today to 21.
Custer County was the only other immediate Black Hills area county to report new cases today as they added 2 new positive tests.
Also down today was the statewide number of active cases. Today’s active number of cases is 1,163 – down 31 from Monday.
The number, though, most officials are keeping an eye on, is up today – the number of people hospitalized. Health officials report 68 people hospitalized today – up 8 from Monday.
There was one new death reported today as well. The new death was a female listed in the 80+ age range in Lake County, bringing the state’s total number of deaths now to 154.
