PIERRE, S.D. – Wednesday’s COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health indicated 86 new cases with 22 of those listed as probable.
The number of active cases continued their decline Wednesday as they fell from 1,100 on Tuesday to 1,004 today.
The number of people hospitalized remained steady at 66.
There were seven new deaths reported, however, on Wednesday – sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 1,988. The seven deaths are the most in one day since April 9th. Two of the new deaths were in the Black Hills area with one reported out of Meade County and the other out of Fall River County.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County had 6 total new cases with 4 of those probable.
Lawrence County added 6 confirmed new cases with one probable and Meade County had 3 confirmed new cases and one new probable case.
Both Custer and Fall River County added 3 new cases each and Butte County added one new case.
