State health officials report two new deaths; 42 new cases in Monday COVID-19 update

PIERRE, S.D. – The Monday COVID-19 report from the Department of Health indicated 42 new cases with 12 of those listed as probable.

Two new deaths were reported today, sending the state’s death toll to 1,993. The two news deaths were reported in the 50 – 59 age group and the 70 -79 age group. The new deaths were out of Minnehaha and Todd Counties.

Active cases continued their decline, down 62 to 828, but the number of hospitalizations went back up to 71.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 2 new cases and Lawrence County had one. There were two new probable cases in Custer County.

Frisch was indicted for Receipt of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography by a federal grand jury in March of 2023. On January 17, 2024, he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
