State records 240 new COVID-19 cases; active cases around Black Hills drop

STURGIS, S.D. – The state saw 240 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, but several Black Hills counties saw a reduction in the number of active cases.

Pennington County reported the most new cases today in the Black Hills area as 16 new positive COVID-19 tests were confirmed. The total number of cases in Pennington is 1,448 and the active number of cases is down 19 today to 428.

Meade County reported 5 new cases, but recoveries outpaced new cases as the active caseload fell 11 to 148.

Lawrence County reported 4 new cases, sending the cumulative total to 229 with 120 of them active. The active cases are down 9 in Lawrence County Tuesday.

Other new case numbers around the Black Hills area include 8 in Fall River County and 2 in Oglala Lakota County.

The statewide active caseload is up 20 today to 2,750.

The number of hospitalizations was up two today to 78 and no new deaths were reported.

A total of 1,066 new persons tested were reported on Tuesday.
