State records slight uptick in number of active COVID-19 cases Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 23 new cases of  COVID-19 Wednesday, with 9 of those considered as probable cases.

Active cases saw a slight uptick today to 162, but the number of people hospitalized decreased another 6 to 20.

Two new deaths were reported today. The new deaths send the state’s death toll to 2,029.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 2 new confirmed cases and 4 probable cases for a total of 6.

Butte County added 2 new cases and there was one new case each in Lawrence, Custer and Fall River County.
