PIERRE, S.D. – The State health department reported 123 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday and one new death. The new death was listed as a male in the 70-79 age range in Minnehaha County.
Meade County reported the most cases among Black Hills numbers, as they reported 8 new positive COVID-19 cases out of 15 tests conducted. The eight new cases raises Meade County’s cumulative total to 120 with 30 active. The active cases are up 6 from Tuesday.
Lawrence County added 5 new cases today, giving them a total of 82 and 22 active cases. Pennington County reported an additional 4 new cases out of 13 tests performed, sending their cumulative total to 962 with 108 active. The active cases are down four today in Pennington.
Elsewhere, Custer County reported two new cases and Butte and Oglala Lakota each reported one new case.
The state’s active caseload is up 59 today to 1,222. That is the highest amount of active cases in the state since May 16.
The good news today; the number of people hospitalized is down 13 Wednesday to 55.
