PIERRE, S.D. – Although cases of COVID continue to fall across South Dakota, it was a deadly Thursday report.
State health officials reported eighteen new COVID-19 related deaths today, sending the state’s death toll to 2,724. Of the new deaths, two were out of Pennington County and there was one death each reported out of Lawrence, Meade and Custer counties.
Active cases have dropped to 15,679, but the number of people hospitalized was back up today to 317.
New cases across the Black Hills area included 56 in Pennington County, 14 in Lawrence, 8 in Meade, 6 in Butte, 16 in Oglala Lakota, 5 in Fall River and one in Custer County.
