State reports 539 new cases with one new death in Tuesday COVID-19 Report

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials report 539 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and one new death. The new death was listed as a male in the 60-69 age range. The death toll is now 1,111.

Active cases were down slightly to 16,783. The number of people hospitalized dropped 12 Tuesday to 491.

New cases across West River totaled 122.

Pennington County had 40 new cases Tuesday, sending the county’s cumulative total to 9,447 with 1,898 remaining active.

Lawrence County added 11 new cases Tuesday, raising the total to 2,230 with 428 still active.

Meade County reported 6 new cases to send the total to 1,914 with 396 remaining active.

Other new cases West River included 18 in Dewey, 11 in Oglala Lakota, 7 in Mellette, 6 in Todd, 5 in Custer, 3 each in Stanley, Jackson and Tripp, 2 each in Ziebach, Haakon and Bennett and one each in Butte, Fall River and Corson counties.

There were 1,229 new persons tested reported on Tuesday. Tuesday’s new person tested positivity rate is 43%.
