State reports 72 new cases of COVID-19 in Saturday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 72 new positive tests for COVID-19 Saturday.

Pennington County saw an increase of 6 new cases, bringing their cumulative total to 49. Oglala Lakota County also reported three new cases, giving them a cumulative total of 9. There are currently 34 active cases in Pennington and 8 active cases in Oglala Lakota.

The number of active cases statewide went down, 1,242 today. The number of hospitalizations is down as well to 75. That is down 5 from Friday.

There were no new deaths reported today as the number of COVID-19 related deaths remained at 44.
