SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Championship matches are set at the State Girls Wrestling Tournament.
Maraia Kruske of Spearfish has earned herself a trip to the championship match after a semifinal win over Trinity Duran of Rapid City Stevens. She will face Akane Metcalf of Kimball/White Lake for the 106 pound title.
At 113, Brooklyn Baird of Sturgis lost her quarterfinal, getting pinned by Quinn Butler of Lemmon. She moved to the wrestleback and defeated Sara Schroder of Canton and will face Shea Irion of Spearfish for third place. Â Irion of Spearfish also lost her 113 pound semifinal to Britney Rueb.
At 120, Brooklyn Brant of Sturgis lost her morning wrestleback and moves to the 7th place match.
At 126 pounds, Madison Snyder of Sturgis lost her semifinal match to Yankton’s Navaeh Leonard. She moved to the wrestleback and lost to Cateri Yellowhawk of Sully Buttes. Snyder will wrestle for fifth place against Hattie Baldwin of Pierre.
At 132, Talyor Graveman of Spearfish heads to the championship with a win over Alexis Bryant.
At 142 pounds, Jayden Werlinger of Spearfish wrestles for 7th place.
At 154 pounds, Trinity Zopp of Lead-Deadwood advances to the championship match with a win over Giada Scherich of Red Cloud.
And, at 285, Destiny Triplet of Douglas lost her semifinal match to Kiara King of Canton. She won her wrestleback and is now wrestling for third place. She will face Hope Orr of Viborg-Hurley.
