State Wrestling – Semifinals and 3rd Round Consolation

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The semifinal and 3rd round consolation matches are complete at the State A Wrestling Tournament.

At 106, Scooper Korbin Bunch stays alive with a 3rd round consolation win and will face Aiden Wells of Jefferson for a chance at 3rd place. Stevens Raider Shea Richter is also still alive and wrestling later today for a chance at third place.

At 113, Scooper Teryn Zebroski drops his semifinal match with a fall at 2:48 to Trevon Oehme of Brandon Valley. Zebroski heads to the wrestleback where he will face Brayden Collins of Stevens for a chance at third place.

At 120, Scooper Tegan Zebroski also dropped his semifinal match to Watertown’s Sloan Johannsen. Zebroski will face Tyler Wurth of Harrisburg in the consolation semifinals. Spearfish Spartan John Jeffrey is still alive in the consolation semifinals as well.

At 126, Dee Daniels of Sturgis loses his consolation 3rd round match and will wrestle for 7th place.

At 132, Beau Peters of Sturgis drops his semifinal to Jordon Oehme of Brandon Valley in an 11-3 decision. Peters will wrestle Caleb Hodges of Madison in the consolation semifinals.

At 138, Riley Dighton of Belle Fourche loses his semifinal match to Tristan Spencer of Pierre. Dighton will head to the consolation semifinals. Thayne Elshere of Sturgis stays alive with a 3rd round win, and will wrestle Michael Roob of Vermillion in the consolation semifinals.

At 145, Kalvin Ketelsen of Sturgis loses his 3rd round consolation match and will wrestle for 7th place.

At 152, Corter Doney of Stevens drops his semifinal match to Logan O’Connor of Harrisburg. Doney moves to the consolation semifinals.

At 160, Zack Soderlin of Rapid City Central loses his semifinal match to Pierre’s Deegan Houske of Pierre. Soderlin heads to the consolation semifinals.

At 182, Scooper Reese Jacobs remains undefeated as he gets a 16-4 mutual decision win over Chet Carda of West Central.  Jacobs will wrestle Chance Carda of Pierre tonight for the championship.

A second Scooper heading to the championship is Aiden Werlinger at 195. He got a 6-3 decision win over Brock Eitreim of Watertown in the semi’s. Werlinger will face Jack Detert of Harrisburg in the championship.

At the State B tournament, two West River athletes will compete Friday night for the 170 pound crown. Philip’s Burk Blasius got a 15-2 mutual decision win over Weston Remmers of McCook Central/Montrose to face Parker Noem of Custer in the championship. Noem  defeated Gunnar Stephens to earn his trip to the final.

Philip Scottie Carter Kendrick is also in the championship round for 106 pounds after a semifinal victory over Brody Randall.

At 113 pounds, Tray Weiss of Custer is headed to the 113 pound championship after a win over Talon Ping in the semifinals.

Jace Blasius is also wrestling for the championship at 138 with a semifinal win over Wagner’s Jhett Breen. Fellow teammate Blair Blasius drops his semifinal match to Poter Negugebauer and heads to the consolation semifinals.

Custer’s Jonathan Lewis heads to the championship at 160 with a semifinal win over Ben Swatek of Elk Point-Jefferson.

At 195, Caleb Rickenbach of Hot Springs will wrestle for the 195 pound championship.

In the girls tournament, Sturgis has one wrestler in the championship. Brooklyn Baird will face Sara Schroder of Canton for the 113 pound championship. Other area wrestlers in the championship include Maraia Kruske of Spearfish at 106, and Taylor Graveman, also of Spearfish, at 132.

Madison Snyder of Sturgis dropped her semifinal and will wrestle in the consolation semifinals at 126.
