SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Rapid City Stevens surprised the Harrisburg Tigers Thursday night, upsetting the number 3 seed 39-27.
Kenadi Rising and Bailee Sobczak each scored 9 points to lead the Raiders.
Stevens shot nearly 29-percent while Harrisburg shot a woeful 25-percent. The Tigers had 17 turnovers compared to 11 for Rapid City Stevens.
The Raiders will now play the seventh-seeded Brandon Valley Lynx, who pulled an upset of their own by defeating second-seeded Aberdeen Central 33-30.
Earlier in the day, Rapid City Central dropped their first round matchup to top-seeded Sioux Falls Washington 53-27.
At the State A Tournament, St Thomas More rolled to a 66-29 win over McCook Central/Montrose.
Haleigh Timmer led the scoring for the Cavaliers with 23 points. Reese Ross added 17 for St Thomas More who advance to play fourth-seeded Aberdeen Roncalli, who defeated Sioux Falls Christian 45-34.
Elsewhere at the State A Tournament, Belle Fourche dropped their opening matchup to Hamlin 53-36. The Broncs will play Dakota Valley Friday afternoon in the consolation bracket.
