Strong winds, slick roads usher in Wednesday morning

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A strong cold front that pushed through the area overnight has resulted in colder temperatures and slick roads this morning.

Strong northwest winds and snow will continue across the region today. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow will be possible across the northern and central Black Hills and south central South Dakota this morning.

The strong northwest winds will create blowing snow and reduced visibilities in these areas, resulting in hazardous travel conditions. Finally, areas of snow and blowing snow will reduce the visibility at times across the rest of the South Dakota and Wyoming plains.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the Black Hills until 8 this morning and a high wind warning is in effect for the remainder of western South Dakota.
