STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Ambulance Service is running a fundraiser to help send several E.M.T.’s to the 2024 EMS World Expo in Las Vegas.
Ambulance Director Shawn Fisher says the expo is an important experience for her E.M.S. workers.
Fisher says the cost to send the employees is around $10,000 and they have raised half of that. The expo starts Sunday, but you can still help the ambulance service.
As part of the fundraiser, Fisher says they are running a “Flock A Yard” program, where you can order pink flamingos to be placed in someone’s yard.
The Sturgis Ambulance Service is currently operating with a $1.9 million budget, which Fisher says is not ideal.
Ambulance Service in South Dakota is still not considered an essential service and she has been outspoken supporter of changing that.
