STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis has signed off on a $14.9 million dollar Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility project.
The council this week awarded the contract to PHG/Scull Construction.
Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie says construction will be starting in a couple of months.
“This will be the largest infrastructure project the city has ever done. The 14.9 million is for the actual construction, and the city received some funding from the state to help cover 90-percent of the cost.”
Ainslie says the remaining ten percent will be paid for by the city. That money is coming from an additional surcharge that Sturgis residents have been paying since 2017.
The additional charge was added to residents’ water bill.
