STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis has begun advertising for a new ambulance director after announcing the termination of Shawn Fisher last week.
The ad appears on the city’s webpage under jobs. A poster advertising for the position also popped up on the city’s Facebook page Thursday.
Fisher was let go following a meeting with staff last week. Fisher announced the news on her Facebook page Friday morning and the city followed suit with a short announcement of their own. City officials noted Fisher was no longer employed with the city but could not comment any further due to it being a personnel issue.
Fisher had been with the city for many years, but said in her social media post she believed a possible HIIPA violation and a COVID money situation that cost the city nearly $23,000 were factors in her dismissal.
The city’s post indicates the salary range is between $75,000 and $90,000.
