RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper boys cross country team got the team title at the Black Hills Conference Meet Thursday.
The Scoopers finished on top with 43 points.
Custer was second, Douglas was third and Belle Fourche placed fourth.
Winning the boys race was Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche in a time of 15:57.26.
Keenan Urdiales of Spearfish was second and Miles Ellman of Custer placed third.
Sturgis had four runners finish in the top ten, including Morgan Pappenfuss in fifth, Deron Graf in 7th, Ty Petrocco in 8th and Ray Henderson in ninth.
Winning the girls’ team title was Custer with 51 points. Sturgis was second, Hill City was third and Spearfish was fourth.
Winning the girls’ race was Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish in a time of 19:35.10.
Kadense Dooley of Custer was second and her teammate Ramsey Karim was third.
Lucy Hamer was the top placing Scooper in 8th place.
