Sturgis Brown High School Oral Interp Earns A Team Excellence Award

The State Oral Interpretation Festival was held December 2-3, 2022 at the Mitchell High School. Most of the SBHS who competed received a superior rating.

STURGIS, S.D. – The State Oral Interpretation Festival was held December 2-3, 2022 at the Mitchell High School. Most of the SBHS who competed received a superior rating. The team included:

Jordyn Richter (11th grade): Non-original oratory
Abby Johnson (11th grade): Humorous reading
Jag Weyer (12th grade): Storytelling
Carlie Johnson (12th): Poetry
Carlie Johnson and Brooke Holly (12th grade): Duet
Carlie Johnson, Brooke Holly, Jag Weyer, Rylee Conover (12th grade), and Abby Johnson: Reader’s theater

The team did earn a team excellence award, which is given to AA schools that earn at least four superiors.

Brian Lester and wife Alahna Gross of Mitchell, S.D., attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally regularly and stay at the same campground. It was there that Gross spotted the kids who were the subject of an Amber Alert first issued from Canada.
