STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council had another long discussion Monday night over Title 7 as they work towards setting up a job description for a city administrator.
Monday evening’s discussion focused on topics introduced by Council President Kevin Forrester.
Forrester says, among other things, he would like to see the council being able to sign off on contracts under $25,000 and wants the council to get updated budget reports.
For example, Forrester says their budget documents show what was budgeted the year before, not what was spent.
Forrester agreed the council should make completing a job description for a city administrator a priority, but he would like to see budget items a part of Title 7.
The city’s legal department will continue adding council recommendations. It’s a possible a first reading for a new Title 7 ordinance could be before council on July 29th.
