STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council approved a resolution amending previous council actions concerning the American Flat Track Sturgis TT race scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 11.
Resolution 2024-46 – a resolution to amend the licenses, resolutions, and actions taken by council in order to extend to and include all of Monday, August 12, 2024, as the rain date for the Spirit of Sturgis TT Race – was approved unanimously by the council.
In the final contact with AFT Events, it was determined that Monday, Aug. 12, would be the rain date for the Sunday, Aug. 11, Sturgis TT race. Resolution 2024-42 approving a street closure request by AFT-Events for Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, for the Sturgis TT Race, which was passed by the council on July 1, stated that the closure would be from 2 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.
Given the forecast that chances of rain on Sunday could be 50% or higher, the council needed to consider amending that resolution and others surrounding the race.
Following are the actions that were amended with approval of the resolution at the special meeting Saturday:
- An SEL for the Loud American for bar service in the VIP/Ticketing area during the AMA Pro Racing/AFT Event on August 11, 2024.
