STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Council Monday night approved a request to enter into a billing services agreement between the Sturgis Ambulance Service and Physician Claims Company.
Sturgis Ambulance has historically managed all patient care and transport billing in house, but with a recent change in leadership, the city is hoping to streamline the billing process.
Geody Vandewater, sitting in as interim Ambulance Director, says the city’s goal with this transition is to alleviate the burden on staff, allowing them to focus on the core functions of ambulance operations.
Additionally, the city anticipates that outsourcing billing to P.C.C. will enhance efficiency and increase revenue.
Vandewater says the agreement will be in effect for three years from the effective date and automatically renew for successive three year terms unless either party cancels.
Sturgis Mayor Kevin Forrester believes this will be a good change.
Fees will be based on P.C.C.’s base fee of 8-percent per month of net collections.
