STURGIS, S.D. – The city of Sturgis has approved a sublease with Rumble On that will allow them to run a year round business on Lazelle Street.
Rumble On allows customers to buy, sell and trade used or new motorcycles.
They will set up shop in the old Samson Building.
Earlier this year, the City leased the Samson’s Corner property along with a parking lot next to the Bowling alley for another 10 years. The City had been leasing these properties in three year increments for the Rally period since 2015. The lease agreement the City approved earlier this year extended the previous terms but allowed for the use of the properties year-round.
These properties have historically been used by Rockford Fosgate (lot next to the bowling alley), Rinehart (corner of 5th and Lazelle) and Rumble On (Samsons Corner Building). Every year that the City has leased the properties, the City has made a profit from the subleases during the Rally.
Rumble-On is now planning on opening year round at the Samson’s Corner property. The City is facilitating this commercial expansion by subleasing the Samson’s Corner property to Rumble On for 10 years.
The negotiated lease rate is $190,000 per year. Rumble On anticipates completing a significant expansion on the site later this summer.
