STURGIS, S.D. – With continued growth in Sturgis, the city council Monday night approved Resolution 2022-25 – which authorizes a State SRF loan application for wastewater improvement projects.
Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush says it is necessary to proceed with improvements to the sanitary sewer system, especially with planned growth to the north.
Projects include construction of a new 15-inch PVC sewer trunk line beginning along Avalanche Road near Bear Butte Creek. The trunk line will follow Bear Butte Creek east to Blanche Street where it will connect to the existing City sewer infrastructure.
Also included is rehabilitation of the existing sanitary sewer through construction of a new 10-inch PVC main that will replace the antiquated existing main along Williams, Dudley and Miller Streets.
All of the foregoing improvements are otherwise known by the project title “Sturgis Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project”. The city is seeking approximately $10.3 million dollars.
A public hearing on the projects will take place at the October 2nd council meeting.
