STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council took care of some year end business at their final meeting of the year Monday night.
The council passed second and final reading of the supplemental appropriation of the 2023 budget and approval the annual write-off of 2023 uncollectable water/sewer/garbage accounts and checks not cashed in 2023.
The council also awarded the Whitewood Service Road Bridge Structure Preservation Bid.
Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush:
Bush says the city will front the money and they get reimbursed 80-percent up to the maximum.
The council also approved design work and engineering for the Sturgis Municipal Airport G.A. Terminal/SRE Storage Building and authorize the city attorney to sign all required contract documents.
For the third year, the airport has submitted an application for a portion of the $2.9-billion available to U.S. airports.
This design and engineering project will be covered by another area of funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Airport Infrastructure.
